[PROJECT_03] Chronos Gate | Video Game

History is the most underutilized weapon ever built.

Project 03 is an original sci-fi thriller video game concept. When time is treated as open-source code, reality becomes malleable. The objective behind this IP was to engineer a visceral, multi-sensory paradox driven entirely by chronological hacking, forcing two incompatible eras to occupy the exact same frame.

The result is Chronos Gate, a masterclass in the collision of analog history and raw binary.

Weaponizing Time

A clandestine war is raging in the margins of the timeline. The chronosphere is destabilizing, caught between two opposing factions: The Archivists, the brutal preservers of the established timeline who enforce history at all costs, and The Override Syndicate, temporal hackers rewriting major historical events to manipulate the future.

The player operates outside this binary as a “Weaver”—a rogue chronological hacker. You are the most dangerous variable in a war neither faction calculated for.

Standard time-travel aesthetics rely on clean, linear transitions. This narrative demanded the exact opposite. In this universe, the past and the future do not transition smoothly; they violently bleed together.

The Visual Bleed: 14th-Century Analog vs. Raw Binary

What does a broken timeline look like from the inside? It looks like a medieval knight standing in the mud of 14th-century Paris, his rusted chainmail illuminated by the erratic, harsh blue glow of a glitched digital plasma rifle.

The visual execution required a rigorous, multi-layered pipeline to make the fracture feel authentic. The visual identity and core logo marks were meticulously crafted to look like high-end, sterile tech interface elements. We then engineered the decay, subjecting the interface to deliberate data-moshing, chromatic aberration, and digital tearing.

The narrative is assembled through aggressive, jarring cuts. The texture of heavy, aged analog paper physically tears open on screen, revealing raw, scrolling binary code underneath. The edit does not let the viewer breathe; it is a full-screen clash that visually simulates a system crash of reality itself.

Visuals dictate the aesthetic, but sound design dictates the reality. To force the audience to actually feel the chronological fracture, the auditory experience had to be obsessive.

We focused on a single, continuous action translated across six hundred years. It starts with the heavy, organic friction of a 14th-century iron gall ink quill dragging across rough vellum. The sound is wet, slow, and tactile. At the exact apex of the ink stroke, the frequency violently snaps.

The drag of the feather is instantly replaced by the sharp, aggressive, mechanical clack of a modern keyboard switch executing a rootkit. There is no crossfade. There is no ambient transition. The analog action simply breaks, immediately overwritten by the digital command.

It is the exact sound of history being hacked in real-time.
